Cord Season Is Coming

Streetwear has spent two years obsessed with denim. The next obsession is going to have a different feel, literally. Corduroy is creeping back, and the brands paying attention are already cutting it.

Cord does something denim cannot. It catches light in ridges, it reads as warmth, and it carries a lived-in weight even when it is brand new. For a scene that has pushed workwear and utility to its limit, cord is the natural next step. It is texture you can see from across the room.

The wide leg silhouette that took over through baggy denim and parachute pants translates straight onto cord. Same volume, different surface. That is why this is not a reach. The cut is already here. The fabric is the upgrade.

Spotlight: Kikwear.

If anyone is positioned for a cord moment, it is Kikwear. The brand built its name on wide leg, heavy bottom trousers with a raver and skater lineage, the kind of fit that defined an era and never fully left. That heritage of volume and durability is exactly what cord wants. Put that silhouette in corduroy and you get something that feels both familiar and brand new, nostalgic without being a costume.

Watch this one. Cord rewards brands that already understand proportion, and Kikwear has understood proportion for longer than most.

The drop calendar will tell you when the rest of the scene catches up. Our bet is sooner than people think.
